INFORMATION CONFIRMED BY SHERIFF SERGEANT ON SCENE (basically word-for-word from the sergeant): A bicycle robbery gone bad resulted in shots fired just after 10 PM. The victims saw that their bicycle was stolen from in front of their house, they stepped out outside, saw a couple of people in their late teens/early 20's riding by on their bicycle. They jumped in their car to follow after them to try to recover their bicycle. They ended up down the street where they finally caught up with them. When they confronted them about getting their bicycle back, one of the two males threw the victims bicycle down to the ground and pulled out a handgun and began shooting erratically. One of the rounds struck the victims vehicle in the rear passenger door and two of them skipped off the ground and one of the skips impacted the vehicle across the street (seen). It punctured the gas tank, which emptied most of the gas from the fuel tank. San Marcos FD has to come out and clean it up. The victims did get their bike back, but Sheriff is taking it back to their crime lab to process it. No one was injured in the shooting and the two suspects are still at large. An officer on scene tells me the bullets were either 40 or 45 caliber. I'm fairly confident that the two people you see in the video are the victims who were shot at, as indicated by their body language and gestures while talking to officers. Sheriff will be issuing a press release shortly.
