INFORMATION FROM LT ROHOWITZ & RADIO TRAFFIC: 2 people are in custody and one is still at large following a vehicle pursuit in Southcrest. The pursuit started around 12:27 AM at 28th & Oceanview with the want being for speed. The driver failed to yield and led police on a lengthy chase through city streets. At one point someone in the vehicle threw a loaded shotgun out the window. When it landed, it discharged a single round and blew out the window of a Jeep parked on the street. At the time officers were unsure if it was just a backfire or a gunshot, but described seeing a flash and a loud bang from the right-rear tire area of the vehicle. The pursuit continued until the driver pulled in to an apartment complex at 4400 Delta St. The driver, a 17 year old female, and one of the passengers, a 19 year old male, were detained (and later arrested). The third occupant gave footbail from the vehicle. Officers began setting up a perimeter and had ABLE overhead, but after over an hour of searching, the suspect was still at large. I left to get the vehicle with the blown out window and therefore missed the SOT w/ Rohowitz. It was later discovered that the shotgun had shattered in to multiple pieces due to it being thrown out of a vehicle at approximately 40 MPH, per Rohowitz. The female was arrested for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and weapons violation and the male passenger was also arrested for weapons violation.
ONLY CAMERA ON SCENE of the blown out window. The vehicle left shortly thereafter.
REMINDER: The female driver is a juvenile, which I believe means you have to blur her face.
