Last name of Espinoza, I missed the first name. The interview didn't note any connection between the suspect and the victim, but it sounds like the woman may have known her assailant. (read more)
TRAFFIC COLLISION IN FRONT OF FIRE STATION 3

LAKESIDE - May 24, 2013 - A sedan rear-ended a pickup truck in front of Heartland Fire Station 3 Friday night. Someone in the sedan was transported. A medic on scene told me "he's pretty banged up", but I couldn't get anything further. Medic 3 transported to Sharp Memorial. CHP CAD log shows a request for SSI (blood tech I believe) to the hospital, so the driver of the sedan may have been DUI. (read more)
COPPER WIRE THIEVES PURSUIT

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS - May 18, 2013 - The attempted wire theft was out of a Cox Cable utility truck parked on the street. The cable is RG6 coaxial cable (TV cable). The quantity of copper is low compared to household electrical wire. Both suspects are in custody, one was in the back of an ambulance. A patrol car broke through a fence during the pursuit. OVERNIGHT BRUSH FIRE

SANTEE - May 17, 2013 - Per Fire Chief Mattick, 4-5 acres, no structures were damaged, no injuries, unknown cause. Water-dropping helos were requested but none were available with night vision. Ground crews were able to extinguish the fire. (read more)
MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT WITH MERCY AIR

LAKESIDE - May 17, 2013 - From what I understand (per radio traffic), a male was riding a dirtbike or motorcycle off road with a female on the back. They "went off a jump" and crashed. The male was initially reported as a non-breather, but was later confirmed to be breathing but unconscious. The female also says she lost consciousness. The male was airlifted by Mercy Air to Sharp Memorial hospital. I am unsure if the female was transported. I tried to locate the crash scene but it was on dirt backroads and the sun was... ONE EJECTED AND 2 TODDLERS INVOLVED IN ROLLOVER CRASH

ALPINE - May 16, 2013 - One adult ejected and flown by Mercy Air 6 to Sharp Memorial hospital. Two toddlers were also in the truck and transported to Childrens Hospital with minor injuries. Solo vehicle rollover, DUI and speed are not believed to be a factor. (read more)
